2012 SEJRA Rules
2012 Rule Changes are denoted in Orange
General Rules
-
Any documented violation of age, engine
capacity rules or falsification of documents may result in a
minimum six race suspension, a cash fine, and/or loss of all
series points.
-
Age: a driver's competition age is the
actual attained age as of January 1, 2011. A driver
who ages up during the year may continue to compete in the class
they started the year in, or may move to a higher class once
their actual attained age qualifies them.
-
8.90, 9.90, and 10-12 Age Group. Any
driver who exceeds 8.70 will receive one warning. After the
warning, a second offense will result in disqualification from
the class.
-
7.90 Index, Heads-Up 330, 13-14
Age Group, and 15 & up Age Group. Any driver who exceeds 7.70
will receive one warning. After the warning, a second offense
will result in disqualification from the class, and loss of all
series points earned in the class event.
Special Conditions
Spirit
-
The spirit and intent of that principle is
the standard by which the series is guided. The rules and
regulations set forth are as complete as the SEJRA can make them
at this time. However, it is impossible to craft rules that
cover every contingency. When an unforeseen circumstance arises
that tests the spirit and intent of the rules, event officials
are authorized to decide whether an equipment change or design
is an attempt to "beat" the rules.
Participants
1. Verbally or Physically threatens another participant or other
person
2. Uses vulgar or derogatory language
3. Engages in unsportsmanlike conduct or conduct detrimental to the
sport of Junior Drag Racing.
4. Causes or contributes to the destruction of property
5. Or Creates a condition or circumstance that is unsafe, unfair, or
out of order, may be excluded, disqualified, or asked to leave the
event.
Heads-Up
1.
First and Foremost, all Heads-Up 330 cars must meet N.H.R.A. rules.
(Example:
2010 NHRA Rule Pg. 43: "Front overhang not to exceed 15 inches,
measured from centerline of front spindle to forwardmost point of
car.)
(Example: 2010 NHRA Rule Pg. 40: "Helmet bars
are required between the secondary upper roll cage hoop and the
upper roll cage rear braces on each side of the car.)
Once you have reached the point of racing
within the Heads-Up 330 class, you are expected to know the NHRA
base rules for Jr. Dragsters. If your car does not meet all NHRA
rules you will not be allowed to race until your car fully conforms
with these rules.
-
It is recommended that competitors use
Tire Wraps, however you may still use Plastic Wrap. If you use Plastic Wrap, the first
time they stick to your tires holding up the event you will be
given a warning. The second time they stick you will immediately
forfeit that run.
-
Once one pre-stage bulb is lit, neither
competitor may restart their racecar. If either competitor's car
shuts off, while one pre-stage bulb is lit, they forfeit the
round.
-
Absolutely no touching of the cars by
anyone except race officials until the car has passed the
scales.
-
If a car dies or is shut off before
reaching the scales, the driver is to remain in their racecar
until a Tech Official comes to retrieve them. The driver will be
the last one to cross the scales. IF THE DRIVER EXITS THE
RACECAR OR A CREW MEMBER PASSES THE SCALES BEFORE THE CAR IS
WEIGHED THE RUN WILL NOT COUNT.
-
Winner and Runner-Up will be teched in a
timely fashion following the final round. No winnings will be
issued until tech has been completed.
-
A participant may not set the idle speed
using the throttle cable. Idle speed must be set by a standalone
method. (I.E. Standard Mikuni Slide Adjuster, Carburetor Top
Adjusters, etc.)
This ruling is strictly for safety purposes.
As the idle speed is set using the throttle cable, the adjustment on
a driver's pedal stop is changed. This can result in a driver's
throttle hanging at the finish line.
Maximum Bore = 3.750"
Maximum Stroke = 3" + or - .010"
Weight = 445 lbs
Maximum Bore = 3.550"
Maximum Stroke = 3" + or - .010"
Weight = 415 lbs
Maximum Bore = 3.310
Maximum Stroke = 3" + or - .010"
Weight = 360 lbs
-
Maximum of one Puke Tank per entry.
-
Puke Tank must be mounted behind deflector
shield. Tank may be mounted anywhere on the backhalf of the
racecar.
-
Maximum of 3 vent hoses from Engine to
Tank.
-
Maximum hose I.D. 3/4" from Engine to
Tank.
-
Maximum combined length of vent hoses
15 ft.
-
No computer controlled engine/clutch
components or engine control systems of any kind (i.e. engine
management systems - programmable ignitions - fuel control
systems - clutch control systems).
-
No external mechanically controlled
fuel/ignition/clutch components or systems of any kind. (i.e.
externally activated fuel control, no switches activated via the
clutch, no movable ignition coil mount systems)
-
Maximum Fuel Tank Capacity = 1 Quart.
-
Fuel lines must be routed as directly as
possible to Carburetor. (I.E. No wrapping fuel lines multiple
times around Intake Manifold, etc.)
-
Maximum of 3 ft. of Fuel Line per entry.
-
Maximum of 1 Fuel Filter
-
Maximum Fuel Log Size: 4" Long x 1 1/4"
O.D. - must be mounted between Fuel Pump and Carburetor.
-
Maximum of 1 By-Pass line from Fuel Log to
Fuel Tank.
-
Heads-Up 330 cars will be called in unison
with an SEJRA Index Class. At the completion of the Index Round,
Heads-Up cars will begin running. Cars will be fueled as Index round is
being run. A cone will be placed at the rear of the staging
lanes, at that time no more 330 cars will be permitted into the
lanes. If the cone has been placed, go back to your trailer, you
will not be allowed to make that attempt.
-
Power Mist, Propylene Oxide, Sterno, or
any other power adder PROHIBITED. Random checks will be performed.
-
Eliminations will be run on a Pro Ladder.
-
Standard 16 car Ladder.
-
In the event that there are more than 16
cars, a 32 car Pro Ladder will be used. The use of this ladder
will ensure that from 2nd round on, there are no Bye runs.
-
If there are multiple Bye runs first
round, only the cars which are paired will come up to run first
round. All Bye cars will stay at the trailer and automatically
receive advancement into second round and lane choice over the
winner from the 1st round pairing. (Example: if there are 18
cars at a race you would place them on a 32 car ladder to avoid
Bye Runs into the finals. This would leave you with 14 Bye Runs
first round, and only 2 pairs to ensure you had an even number
of cars second round. For 2011 we will not be running all of
these Bye Runs. The way this will be handled is the 2 pairs
would come up and race each other, while all others would
automatically be placed into second round. The winners from the
2 pairs will not receive lane choice in second round regardless
of their first round E.T.’s. Their second round opponent will
retain lane choice due to their better qualifying effort.)
-
If you have a Bye-Run you have
automatically won that round. You DO NOT have to make your
Bye-Run to advance to the next round. If you choose not to make
your Bye-Run you automatically forfeit lane choice for the
following round.
-
YOU CAN NOT LOSE ON A BYE-RUN.
-
If you choose to make your Bye-Run, for
your e.t. to count for the next round's lane choice you must
cross the scales and make weight.
